Modern Systems Research for the Behavioral Scientist
A sourcebook for the application of general systems theory to the study of human behavior
Edited by Walter Buckley (1968), Aldine Publishing Company, Chicago, IL
hardcover, 525 pages (out-of-print)

This is a most difficult book to find. We cannot
even find a direct link into Amazon.Com for this one. Buckley's book is very important
for a number of reasons. First of all, it appeared in a time frame where behavioral
research was shifting away from the strict Skinnerian approach. Systems theory was
making new inroads, and a lot of influential researchers such as Gordon Allport will still
alive to contribute.
There are 59 chapters, and Buckley's own chapter of "Society as a Complex Adaptive
System" are worth the effort to find the book in your local library. |
